Windows Installer has stopped working

Posted on 11:14 PM by Unknown

There is a problem in Windows 7 with the crashing of the Windows Installer. You get something every time you want to install the following message:

The solution is an adjustment in the Windows Registry. Note, but always a backup of the Registry before you go to work!

Open the Registry Editor by in the search field, type regedit in the Start Menu. Press and then click Yes in the UAC prompt.
Now navigate to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ SQMClient \ Windows \ Disabled Sessions
In the right pane find the value MachineThrottling now. Right-click and select Rename. Change the value _MachineThrottling, so with an "underscore" sure, as you can see below. Close the Registry Editor and now try installing again.
